Shawna Seldon McGregor
Shawna is the founder of Maverick Public Relations. She established Maverick PR in 2018 after two decades at communications agencies in New York City and Denver. McGregor has deep experience representing a multitude of sectors including consumer products, media companies, biotech, agribusiness, sustainable technologies, renewable energy, associations and the regulated cannabis industry. Maverick Public Relations is focused on providing outstanding communications service. Offerings include public relations, media training, investor relations, content development, thought leadership development, speaking engagements, response strategy/crisis management and event support.
McGregor has developed publicity programs for clients including The Nature Conservancy, Smithsonian, AARP, Cooking Light, OUTSIDE Magazine, Rodale, PEOPLE, Ladies’ Home Journal and more. She has provided publicity support for high-wattage events from the Green Inaugural Ball to celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden in 2009, to toasts for celebrities such as Adrien Brody and Sharon Osbourne. In 2010, she managed the public relations for the groundbreaking of the world’s largest wind farm, Alta Wind Energy Center. In 2010, McGregor was named a finalist in PR News’ PR People Awards for Nonprofits. In 2003, McGregor was named to PR News' list of "15 To Watch." Shawna began her career at Porter Novelli’s pharmaceutical practice in New York City. McGregor is a member of PRSA, where she has earned a certificate in Reputation Management.
Meet The Team
Emily began her Public Relations career in college where she started interning at a communications firm, Zehnder Communications. Emily worked at Zehnder for nearly three years before graduating college and moving to Denver, Colorado. There, she took up freelance public relations projects before securing a position in the spring travel and tourism program at Turner Public Relations in downtown Denver. At Turner, Emily worked on top brands’ programs, including REI, for over three months learning the ins and outs of travel and tourism PR. After that, Emily started working as a publicist in the cannabis and hemp space at Grasslands. Here she gained knowledge on how to pitch topics that are new, and possibly controversial, to the media. After her time at the agency, Emily transitioned back to contract public relations work staying primarily in the cannabis/hemp realm, but also venturing into the healthcare, nutrition, travel and government sectors. Emily started at Maverick Public Relations in October 2019 and soon transitioned to Director of Media Relations. In this position, she manages media relations on many top accounts. She pitches media, coordinates media interviews/opportunities, conducts media training and is also tasked with managing fellow publicists and content specialists at Maverick PR.
Pam Morales Worsham
Pam Morales Worsham is the Director of Operations for Maverick Public Relations. In the role, Worsham oversees the development of all client communication across various channels to ensure authentic messaging. She is also responsible for coordinating outreach to potential brands that share the same values as Maverick Public Relations. Worsham has built her career as a business consultant and content creator for clients in a wide range of industries including tourism, real estate, health care and endurance sports.
Worsham brings nearly two decades of experience curating, pitching and writing for medical, news, lifestyle and parenting articles to the Maverick Public Relations team. She previously worked as the Associate Producer for Ivanhoe Broadcast News and the Operations and Social Media Manager for Cocoa Beach Parasail, where she launched the top-rated excursion in Central Florida, managed social media content and optimized audience engagements. Additionally, she has 15 years of experience freelance writing for national and regional publications, including SmartBrief, The Daytona Beach News-Journal and Space Coast Daily. Worsham is also bilingual (English, Spanish) and is an avid distance runner completing the New York, Chicago and Space Coast Marathons.
Kim Ring has five years of Public Relations agency experience representing large corporations such as Farmers Insurance and Fisher-Price, as well as small local breweries, healthcare facilities and start-up blockchain companies. After graduating from the University of Missouri with a B.A. in Communication and English, Kim made her first strides as a Public Relations aficionado at FleishmanHillard’s St. Louis headquarters, then relocated to Denver to work with Communications Strategy Group as a Media Relations Specialist. She later shifted focus to cannabis as a Senior Publicist at Grasslands, serving as the account lead for BioTrackTHC, Gofire, Coda Signature, CannAmerica Brands and Cliintel Capital Management Group. She made her foray into freelance PR in March of 2019, specializing in cannabis start-ups and leading industry organizations, such as the National Cannabis Industry Association. Kim’s strategic, thoughtful and empathetic approach to media outreach and account management led her to secure media hits in a variety of publications, such as Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Entrepreneur, USA Today, Benzinga and Business Insider. As an Account Director at Maverick PR, Kim assists with media relations, securing speaking opportunities and overarching communications strategies for the firm’s B2B clientele.
Farrah is a strategic communications professional with a diverse skill set and expertise in both in-house and agency environments. Her experience spans public relations, corporate communications, issues and crisis management, investor relations/financial communications, media relations, event planning and execution, social media management, influencer partnerships and brand ambassador programming. She is also a skilled writer and editor who enjoys storytelling and creating compelling content across all formats.
Over the course of her career, Farrah has managed a wide variety of public relations initiatives for best-selling authors at Time Warner, food and agribusiness organizations at Fleishman-Hillard and major CPG brands at WhiteWave Foods (now Danone North America.) She also led brand ambassador teams and experiential advocacy programming for Beech-Nut baby and toddler food. In her free time, she loves to read, do yoga and travel—especially to the North Shore of Oahu.
Steven Ford is a 30-year journalist who previously worked at newspapers in Texas and Florida, where he edited and wrote news, features and opinion content. Since 2018, he has focused exclusively on writing about cannabis topics for today’s medical and adult-use markets. As a Florida medical marijuana user, he knows firsthand the beneficial role cannabis can play in promoting pain relief and physical wellness. As such, he’s an outspoken advocate for the full legalization of marijuana nationwide, the expansion of scientific research into cannabis and the human endocannabinoid biome, and the restorative justice owed to those incarcerated by America’s unjust “War on Drugs.” At Maverick PR, Steven is the EVP of Content and is responsible for planning, developing and implementing content for several clients.
Bree is a communications and marketing professional with experience in a variety of industries including health and wellness, cannabis, real estate, food services and more. She began her career as a real estate agent where she learned the importance of marketing and PR for herself. She then transitioned into the health and wellness industry where she was the Public Relations/Communications Coordinator for medical technology cannabis company, Gofire. As the PR coordinator for Gofire, Bree discovered her love for marketing and PR in the Cannabis space. She has also handled several social media accounts for various clients over the past four years.
Bree started with Maverick PR in early 2020 as an Account Executive and has since directed her efforts towards pitching, coordinating with media on various opportunities, creating content and running social media accounts.

Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue
Shawna McGregor serves on the Board of Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue, in charge of Marketing & Outreach. She is passionate about animal rights and the environment. She adopted Bruno from SDAR in 2015 and became an active volunteer and donor. In August 2018, she adopted Maverick from Saving Dobermankind.
Saving Dobermankind is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer rescue based out Colorado. SDAR pulls Doberman Pinschers, Dobie mixes and other breeds of dogs from high-kill shelters in Colorado and surrounding states.
